The Soviet Union began to develop rocket technology in the 1920s. These rockets were first used in combat in July 1941. German soldiers nicknamed the Katyusha “Stalin’s organ”. The rockets were produced in various weights from 8 to 76 kg and with a maximum range up 8.5 km.
